The pilot of a small passenger aircraft has died after colliding with another plane early Sunday, November 4, and crashing into a field close to the capital Ottawa, officials revealed.
Police said that the exact circumstances of the crash in Carp, Ontario, about 18 miles (30 kilometers) west of Ottawa, remained unknown.
The Cessna aircraft's pilot, who was flying alone in the plane, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other aircraft, turboprop Piper PA-42, was rerouted to the international airport of Ottawa, where it landed safely.
The accident is under investigation.
The Piper pilot has told air traffic controllers that the Cessna had struck from below and had damaged his landing gear. Happily, neither that pilot nor his passenger were injured, emergency services announced.
