Authorities said an aircraft had crashed in northern Michigan. Nobody had been found in the wreckage.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the wreckage of Beechcraft Super King Air BE20 plane had been located Tuesday morning, September 25, several miles west of Oscoda Wurtsmith Airport (Oscoda Township, Iosco County) around 130 miles north of Detroit.
The aircraft had crashed under unknown circumstances. Only the pilot had been onboard.
Michigan State Police Sgt.Pete McNamara said runway lights had been activated at the airport by the pilot but no airplane had landed. The 10-seat, twin-turboprop aircraft had been Kalitta Air charter from Ypsilanti. The wreckage had been found in wooded area.
The pilot was identified as an Orlando FL man.
