A vintage airplane crashed in the Swiss Alps Saturday, August 4, killing all 20 people onboard.
The mid-century aircraft, Junkers JU-52, crashed in Piz Segnas mountain range, close to the Austrian border.
All 3 crew members and 17 passengers died in the crash, which happened at around 5:00 p.m. local time. The people were aged between 42-84.
The plane was on a flight between Locarno (southern Switzerland) and Dubendorf (suburb of Zurich), and was found about 2,540 m (8,333 ft) above sea level.
The cause of the accident is currently being investigated by Federal Prosecutor's Office, via partnership with Swiss authorities.
Plane's operator JU-Air has suspended flights until further notice.
In a separate accident Saturday morning, another small aircraft crashed close to the town of Hergiswil (central Switzerland) killing all 4 family members onboard.
The parents and their two kids crashed roughly 30 min after the plane took off from an airfield in Kagiswil, headed to France.
The wreckage was discovered in flames, and the cause of the accident is now being investigated by Federal Prosecutor's Office, via cooperation with Swiss authorities.
