All ten passengers of a small airplane, whose wreckage has been discovered in central Kenya 2 days after it went missing, have died in the accident, the government and airline said today, June 7.
The wreckage of the Cessna aircraft belonging to FlySAX airline has been spotted by a surveillance helicopter near Njabini on the edge of Aberdares mountain range early today.
Search teams have been dispatched to the site.
The airplane, operated by East African Safari Air Express, has taken off from the western town of Kitale Tuesday afternoon.
It has disappeared off radar screens at its final destination, Nairobi international airport, about 80 min later, the owners said in a statement.
Kenya experienced heavy rains, that along with foggy conditions hampered the search efforts by Kenya Wildlife Service, the Civil Aviation Authority, the air force and Red Cross.
