British Airways announced it is shutting down its 10-year-old subsidiary, OpenSkies, currently flying between Paris and New York.
IAG, BA parent company, which also owns Iberia and Aer Lingus, will use OpenSkies airport gates as well as other assets at Orly airport to expand service by Level, its new budget offshoot, which already flies from Barcelona to U.S. West Coast, and a number of destinations in Latin America.
In September 2018, OpenSkies will cease to exist. All of its staff will be transferred to Level to create 2nd hub after Barcelona. As a result, the budget offshoot will launch new flights from Paris to Montreal, Martinique, Guadeloupe and Newark, starting next summer.
