A United Airlines flight which headed to Washington, D.C. from Beijing has been turned around during the flight due to an altercation that occurred between a passenger and a crew member.
At 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3, the flight took off from Beijing Capital International Airport and landed at the same airport 3 hours later.
According to Frank Benenati, United Airline’s director of corporate communications, the flight had returned to Beijing after a client "initiated an altercation with a member of the flight crew, causing a safety concern.”
Law enforcement met the airplane at the gate where the traveller “voluntarily deplaned without incident.”
The rest of the flight’s guests were offered meal vouchers, hotel accommodations, and were rebooked on a flight which departed the next day.
